Our staff picks for must-visit local businesses:
As a small, local business, we have been very fortunate to be able to pivot and adjust to the challenges and continuous barriers this pandemic has presented.
However, as lucky as we have been, we feel the hardship that other local shops and entrepreneurs have endured, not only over the past year but for the foreseeable future. We see you, fellow locals, and we want to help! In the wake of the most recent stay-at-home order, we are now, more than ever, compelled to stand up and help those businesses at a time when they need it most.
Scroll down to see our team’s recommendations for local businesses who deserve a little love! But don’t take our words for it, go on and follow them on social, pay them a visit, try their offerings and spread the word about how great they are!
Centre Staged Designs and it’s team members are not affiliated with any of these small businesses, nor do we receive any compensation for promoting them. We simply believe in the power of many and giving help where we can.

Why Jenny likes it: If there’s one thing I miss from the UK it’s a really good local bakery! Your spoiled for choice in most towns and cities. Brittany’s Pick
The Roc Health & Fitness, Guelph.
Why Brittany likes it: I started going to TJ (owner of @therochealthfitness) back in November of last year and have been going ever since! I started going to him to prep for a destination wedding and I was so happy with the results and guidance I received. Several of the wedding party members, including myself, decided to continue the bootcamp memberships after the wedding. Not only is TJ is a great coach and very knowledgeable, but he is so dedicated and genuinely cares about helping his members. He will get your butt into shape and you will have fun while doing it!
Must-Try: Personal training (private and semi-private), bootcamp (in-person or online).

Brook’s Pick:
Arabesque Cafe, Kitchener.
Why Brook likes it: Arabesque Café & Restaurant is family owned and operated. It serves delicious Middle Eastern & Mediterranean cuisine. I started eating here after a recommendation from a friend and fell in love with their hospitality and amazing food! They cook and prepare all their food in-house and it is always made with love. The proportion sizes are amazing and the food is always fresh! Mohamed, the owner, always goes the extra mile to make sure every customer leaves happy and full!
Must-Try: Wood-oven pita & hummus, or their chicken shawarma plate.

Linda’s Pick
Dolce Vita Salon & Spa, Mississauga.
Why Linda likes it: My sister and I started our monthly girls-day-out tradition with a visit to Dolce Vita Salon. They do a fantastic job on your hair using the best products, and the experience is second to none! Al, the owner, along with all of his staff, treat us like VIP’s when we’re there. We sip on cappuccinos while getting the most relaxing scalp and shoulder massages. We never feel rushed and always have an amazing time.
Must-Try: Their “Distinction” hair dye. Formulated in Italy, produced in Lebanon, full of natural ingredients, and very kind to your hair. The colour never fades!

Danielle’s Pick
Lucky Belly, Guelph.
Why Danielle likes it: I was blown away by the quality of their ingredients and variety of healthy menu items! Every item I’ve tried has been delicious and the proportions are huge. The staff are pleasant to deal with and service is very fast! Lucky Belly is my top go-to takeout location in Guelph! I was first introduced to Lucky Belly about a year ago when a friend was raving about it! Lucky Belly is a great little restaurant located in the north end of Guelph.
Must-Try: The Beet Box or Cali box, both are delicious!

Tracy’s Pick
Rallis Burger & Grille, Acton.
Why Tracy likes it: This is a quintessential small-town mom and pop family restaurant. One of those places that isn’t flashy with their décor, website or interior design BUT holy smokes do they ever serve up great food! Rallis specializes in Greek cuisine, burgers, and all-day breakfast but their menu is quite expansive for those looking for something different. You might need a minute to look through it and choose. Their portion sizes are also very generous so you can expect to take some home for future enjoyment. Since they are a family restaurant, they offer a kids menu and specials for students and seniors.
Must-Try: Greek souvlaki dinner, extra tzatziki!
